WHY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU
1. People need to be active to be healthy. Our modern lifestyle has made us lazy - and that's bad for our health. Sitting around in front of the TV or the computer, riding in the car for even a short trip to the store and using lifts instead of stairs all stop us from taking exercise. Physical
inactivity(not enough exercise) is as bad for your health as smoking! 2. Add up your activities during the day in periods of at least 10 minutes each. Start slowly and build up. If you're already doing some exercise, you should do more. A little is good, but more is better if you want to have good health. 3. Scientists say you generally try to do 60 minutes of physical activity every day to become healthy or to improve your health.
They also say that the time you need depends on how hard you exercise. Then, as you increase your activities, you can cut down to thirty minutes, four days a week. 4. Physical activity doesn't have to be very hard to improve your health. People often say getting started is the hardest part. But it is easy to do a little exercise every day. You can become more healthy if you do more physical activities in your daily routine. After three months of regular physical activity, you will feel different.

1. Most people today know about health and fitness.
They are changing their eating habits and taking more exercise. They are eating food with less fat. They are also joining health clubs to do exercise classes, or sports clubs to swim or play tennis or volleyball. There is a lot of interest in difficult sports, such as the
marathon – a 40-kilometre race, and the triathlon, which is a race which has running, swimming and cycling.
2. Businesses also know about the change in people’s lifestyles. In their advertisements they try to attract people who are interested in being healthy. Beautiful people try to sell us diet drinks and food with less fat. Soft-drinks companies, and coffee and tea manufacturers are making caffeine-free drinks, and the word "natural" is on everything from frozen food to pasta. Fast-food restaurants are also responding to this new interest in health. There are now salad bars at McDonald’s and Burger King.
3. How long will this fitness craze last? Nobody knows, but doctors and health workers hope it is here to stay. Many doctors and scientists nowadays predict that even fast food will not all be junk food in the future.
