The Wolf of Wall Street
Highly recommended if you're a fan of Scorsese's work.
12 Years a Slave
Reminds me a little bit of Tarantino's Django Unchained. A lot, actually.
Powerful ending, and profound acting. This will grab some Oscars!
The Book Thief
Meh, this at least received positive reactions when it came to the performances, but I wasn't touched in any way. The horrors of Nazi Germany could have been used to intensify the effect on the audience but busy romanticizing the idea of "stealing books" that the director (following the author of course) follows Liesel's steps everywhere and pays little to no attention to much else. The personification of death sounds more ridiculous in the movie, making it all very Disney-ish. As an adaptation, this shows enough loyalty to the book, I'll give it that.
Out of the Furnace
This is your normal crime film, nothing special. A letdown actually with solid actors. Harrelson's portrayal of evil DeGroat is unexpectedly disturbing. Both Bale and Affleck had amazing scenes. It's no surprise coming from Bale but I have to applaud Affleck for his dedication really shows.
