Brief Introduction:
This poem is a journey through the tangled webs we weave with others—each stanza a mirror reflecting the shadows cast by flawed souls around us. It speaks in a voice both fierce and tender, exposing the many faces of human challenge: ignorance that blinds, cruelty that wounds, vanity that distracts, and lies that poison trust.
Yet beneath these forces, a resilient spirit whispers — urging us to rise above, to hold fast to compassion, and to kindle a light that no shadow can quench.
It is a meditation on struggle and endurance, a call to courage in a world often clouded by shadow, but never devoid of hope.
Circling the Seven Shadows
I. The Idiots’ Chorus
Around me thrums a clamor void of sense,
Words tumble, shallow as a stagnant pond—
Where logic drowns in ignorance intense,
I hum a tune of calm, my spirit fond.
II. The Psychopaths’ Masquerade
Bright smiles conceal a frozen, hollow core,
No empathy to soften fractured hearts—
Their gaze, a blade, unfeeling evermore,
I stand intact while all their pretense parts.
III. The Bad Bosses’ Dominion
They bellow orders laced with brittle pride,
Each command a burden on weary souls—
Yet I carve freedom in the space they stride,
Refusing cages they would carve as goals.
IV. The Setbacks’ Weight
Obstacles arise, relentless walls of stone,
Each stumble shapes resolve within my stride—
In failure’s echo, seeds of strength are sown,
I rise again where weaker dreams have died.
V. The Narcissists’ Gleam
Their mirrored image glows with vain delight,
Reflecting naught but echoes of their name—
I seek the humble flame that burns so bright,
A selfless light no pretense can reclaim.
VI. The Energy Vampires’ Thirst
They drain the warmth, devour my quiet cheer,
Left hollowed, gasping in their bitter wake—
I guard each spark, each heartbeat crystal clear,
Consuming hope they cannot hope to take.
VII. The Liars’ Weave
Their twisted tales entangle truth in knots,
Falsehoods bloom where trust once freely grew—
I trace straight lines through all their tangled plots,
A path of honesty where dreams stay true.
Final Resolve
Though each shadow circles, claiming my sight,
I hold a flame that none can overturn—
For in my core, compassion is my light,
And from their darkness, my own wisdom burns.
